In his latest series of paintings Transit, Dieter Mammel (1965) translates the radical changes of our time caused by climate crisis, political unrest, war and migration to a human scale. He paints symbolic images with ink on wet canvas such as the man wading through the water or more explicitly such as a row of refugees in a winter landscape or a monkey screaming out of anger and impotence.
